Team Sports

A few years back Drew and I got asked from some friends to play in a co-ed softball team.  We took them up on the offer right then and there!  A good group of friends getting together every Sunday to play some good ole ball!  Me, being the worry wort that I am, we pretty nervous before our first game.  For a co-ed softball game, you ask?  Yes, for a co-ed softball game!  That's is how I am.  Anyways, the first season came and went and we just had the BEST time.  Some wins, some beers, some laughs - Sunday Funday!  What could get better than that?  There are the vets on the team who have been there for 5/6 years, there are others like Drew and I and there are new people joining this year!  It should be a good mix of people.

A couple that we play ball with had asked us if we wanted to be on a bowling league.  OF COURSE!!!  We loved to bowl...were we any good?  Well, I will speak for myself and let's just say there is always room for improvement!  Again, just a group of friends (many of them from the same family) getting together on Friday nights to kick back and bowl.  I was sooo excited!   This meant I was finally able to get my very own bowling shoes and bowling ball!  What more could I ask for?  Hahaha!!  It was a long season - September to April (we just had our banquet last night) but fun, none the less.  No, we did not finish in1st place or 2nd or 3rd or 4th...we finished 10th out 11 teams.  I was able to snag the women's high score with 199!  Pretty exciting : )  We will definately be participating again last year, like it or not Matthew and Britt, you are stuck with us again!

As one team sport ends, another begins.  Sunday will be our first ball game, which I am looking forward to.  I, unfortunately, will not be playing for a while, but it will still be fun getting out on Sunday afternoons!  I am looking forward to seeing everyone, having many good laughs, relaxing with a great group of friends and getting summer started!!!

35 weeks down ... 5 (or less) to go!

So, today I had another doctor appointment.  Everything went well which is such a huge relief!  Blood pressure, weight, swelling all good.  Baby boy's heart beat, movements, and size are all great.  I am definitely feeling sluggish and it gets harder each day to get off the couch.  Not only because it's comfy and I am becoming more exhausted as the days pass, but because it is just getting difficult to get up from a laying down and / or sitting position.  When I do finally sit down at the end of the day I make sure I have everything I might possibly need within arms reach; computer, house phone, cell phone, water... ha!  If only the bathroom were....nevermind!!!

I feel really lucky that we have had such an easy pregnancy.  No doubt the first trimester is a pain, well for me it was, because I was soooo moody, emotional, unmotivated, nervous, etc.  I thank Drew all the time for putting up with me - I don't know how I would have put up with me!  It was hard for me to explain and for him to understand that I really was crying for no particular reason.  I couldn't help it!  It just happened!  But, that has passed and I am greatful.

I have some baby showers coming up in the next few weeks and I am really looking forward to them!  Most of my family has not seen me since before I was pregnant so it will get wonderful to catch up.  It is so nice of them to want to shower me with their love and support.

Here is a picture of me at 34 weeks:

What's for dinner?

I find great pleasure in looking for new recipes for dinner ideas whether it be in a cookbook, searching online, or watching the Food Network.  To me, cooking is such a stress reliever.  I try to step out of the box once in a while and switch it up but it is really easy to fall back on the "usual".  Pork, chicken, beef - I feel like there only a few items on our menu for these proteins.  Tonight was chicken night.  What can I do differently?  What won't take more than and hour to prepare (start to finish)?  Chicken Cordon Bleu!!  I searched the web for a couple minutes looking for a recipe that called for ingredients we already had and it had to show a picture.  I need to know what something is supposed to look like.  If, once prepared, it looks like the picture then it must taste like it should.  Right?  I have to stop thinking that way!!  Anyways, tonight was a success - dinner was done in 50 minutes (including prep time), it looked like the picture, AND it actually tasted really good!  Husband approved!

Another thing about dinner - ever since Drew and I have lived together we have, for the most part, had dinner together every night.  This is something really important to me.  I grew up with home-cooked meals and a sit down dinner every night.  As an adult I am able to appreciate the quality time that was spent between me, my brother, mom, and dad.  It is a "tradition" I want to keep up with.  This is only made possible with a husband who appreciates the time spent at the dinner table as much as I do!

Counting down the days

I am just about 32 weeks and I feel REALLY pregnant!  It wasn't until last week I started to get the uncomfortable feeling...it probably doesn't help that I sit at a desk for the majority of my day!  The feet do occasionally go up on my desk (to help with swelling).  I think back to September when we found out I was pregnant and my due date seemed soooo far away.  Well, it is right around the corner and I am starting to get a little anxious and nervous.  What if I go into labor early?  What if I am at the grocery store and my water breaks?  What if Drew is out on a job working?  Who will bring me to the hospital then?  (well I will more than likely call my mom) but what if I can't get a hold of her?  I am sure these are all concern every expectent mother goes through and I tell my self not to worry - it's not going to help anything.  I just have to remember to stay calm, roll with the punches, and pray that things run smoothly.

Drew and I couldn't be more excited to meet our little baby!  I can't believe he will be here in 8 weeks (hopefully)!!!!

Blog Deput

I am very excited to finally be finished with the initial setup of this blog!  I was a little unsure about this whole blogging thing - who would want to read and follow what me and my husband do?  Why would anybody be so interested?  I had never really followed any blogs, myself but, once I started I was pretty intrigued.

As you may have already figured it out, Drew and I are expecting our first child.  We couldn't be happier!!  Time is flying by - I think it's because working at a tax office, it keeps my mind occupied during the day.  I am 32 weeks along and really hoping these last few week really fly by!

Here are some "belly pictures" I have taken through out the pregnancy.

And some progress pictures of the nursery.  We still have some decorating to do on the walls - haven't quite found the perfect pieces yet!

(me pretending like I had a hand in the project!)
