Oct - Nov - Dec

Ok - I know I said this in my last post (3 MONTHS AGO!!!) but it has been sooo long since I have posted anything!!!!  I really need to get into the habit of doing it at least once a week.  I really enjoy being able to look back and see what my baby was doing at a particular time!  Speaking of baby...Ashton is already going to be 7 months old on the 29th.  Where does time go?  He is always so good and happy!  He LOVES banging things together and throwing toys on the ground.  It must be a boy thing?!  Here are quite a bit of pictures to sum up our last three months:
Halloween 2011 - little monkey

1st "solids" - rice cereal...he wasn't too sure about it!

Thanksgiving 2011

Christmas 2011 - meeting Santa for the first time - as the picture shows, he was not a fan!

Cousins - in matching pj's from Mimi and Papa

That's it for now!  Thanks for being patient with me and I promise to do a better job from here on out!!!

August

I realize it has been quite some time since I have last posted anything on my blog.  The month of August seems to have come and gone!  I feel like we were really busy.  Here are some pictures to sum up the month.

We went on an overnight trip up to our friend's cabin in Centuria, WI.  I was a bit unsure about the idea at first because I didn't know how well Ashton would sleep and how our "routine" would hold up.  Drew said that we would never find out if we / Ashton could do it if we never tried.  I agreed to go and was really excited about it!  Drew thought I was being very adventurous...we all had a great time!  Ashton even got to dress up a little bit : )

Dustin, Maria, Soren and Maeta came home for a visit and it was sooo great to see all of them!  This was the first time Dustin got to meet Ashton.  We planned to have Ashton's baptism when they were home because we asked them to be his Godparents.  We are confident that they will help in teaching Ashton the Word of the Lord!  Ashton did pretty well, but he did not like it when the Priest anointed him with Holy Water.  He looked very handsome in this outfit.

On the 29th Drew and I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary.  I am so thankful to have such a loving, caring, supportive, and passionate husband.  He is my best friend and I can't wait to celebrate many more anniversaries together!!

Our little monkey is already 3 months old and he is becoming more and more aware of the world around him.  It is so fun to see him use his hands; whether it be for sticking in his mouth, holding some toys, or swinging at hanging objects.  We put him in the exersaucer for the first time a couple of weeks ago and he has a blast in there!  I think he likes being upright and using his feet!  He is such a blessing and we thank God for blessing us with him.

Talkin'

Ashton has been exercising his vocal cords a lot lately and it is so cute!  He is smiling quite a bit more, too.  I wanted to get this on video because once he gets going it is hilarious, but every time I pull out the camera he gets a little shy.  I thought I would post this anyways!  I can't believe he is already 8 weeks old!  We go to the doctor on Friday for his check-up.

The last month

I cannot believe it has already been a month since our sweet boy was born.  Time really does fly!!  It blows my mind how fast they really do grow - one day he was fitting nicely into newborn clothes and the next day that size was too small.  So what have we been up to the past 4 weeks?  Well, eating, sleeping, and changing diapers (really, that is the majority of my day)!  Ashton sleeps A LOT during the day and it doesn't seem to effect him at night.  I am breastfeeding and that is still going really well.  That was probably the one thing I was really worried about...would he latch on, would I be able to do it, will he be getting enough?  Yes, to all of those questions - such a relief.

Last week I came down with a little cold and as much as I tried not to pass it along to Ashton he still caught it.  I felt sooo bad!    I took him to the doctor last week and she reassured me it was just a cold and proceeded to tell me that babies get at least 6 colds a year.  Doesn't that seem like a lot?!  He is still congested but it is not as bad as it was.  Against some advice, we let him sleep in bed with Drew and I because having him propped up seemed to help with his breathing.  We loved having him between us, but didn't want to get into that habit so that was short lived.

Ashton was 3 weeks old when I brought him in to the doctor.  His weight was good and he was in good health (besides the cold) so my doctor did not think it was necessary to seem him again in a week.  At that time he weighed 9 lb 8 oz and was 22 inches long!  He is definately getting enough to eat!!

4 week old stats:
Weight:  10 pounds 2 ounzes
Lengh: 22 inches long
Eating: Every 2-3 hrs during the day and every 3-4 hrs at night for about 15 minutes
Smiles: for dad all the time
Sleeps: most of the day
Likes: Nuk, being held, his swing, tummie time
Dislikes:  bath time (although it's getting better), his bouncie seat

Welcome...

Ashton John Williams
Our sweet little boy entered the world on May 29, 2011 at 7:42 AM.  He weighed in at 7 pounds 10 ounces and he was 20.25 inches long.  We had a happy and healthy baby!!

So I just recently heard that it is not too common for women's water to break naturally...mine did.  I went to bed around 9:30 on Saturday night and woke up around 11:30 - my water had broken in my sleep.  I calmly went into the bathroom and sat there for about 5 minutes, making sure it was my water and not something else!  Once I came to the realization that THIS WAS IT I went and woke up Drew.  Mind you he had to work Sunday at 5:00 AM!  I called the hospital, they told me to take a shower, and get there within the next couple of hours.  By the time we left the house I was having contractions.

By the time we got to the hospital, around 1:00 AM, my contractions had become quite intense.  I went into this thinking that I would try to do things naturally, but unfortunately that did not last very long.  I ended up getting an epidural around 3:00 AM and I was much more relaxed.  I went from being dilated at a 2 to a 10 within 4 hours.  My nurse had assisted me in a "practice" push and that really did the trick.  The baby was on his way!

My doctor did not actually arrive to my room until about 3 minutes before Ashton was born.  At one point the nurses had told me to stop pushing.  YEAH RIGHT!  There was no way that was happening!  Long story short, my doctor showed up for the final 5 pushes or so and Ashton was born at 7:42 AM on Sunday.  It was absolutely amazing!  He is perfect in every way!  Drew and I have so much love for our baby; it's unbelievable.

Drew did a wonderful job supporting me during labor!!!  I couldn't have done it without him!  Here are some pics of our little bundle of joy:

More pictures to come later!
